In April 2019, Anderson Communities submitted a rezoning request for Andover Golf Course, which closed in 2017. Has there been any progress on the Andover Golf Course development? What is the zoning request for Andover Golf Course?

Andover Golf Course closed in 2017. Anderson Communities, a Lexington Developer, has requested a zoning change to re-open the club house for business use and to allow townhomes to be built on the property.

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council voted in approval on Monday, July 8, which approved the zoning requests for almost 18 acres.

The development plan is to build 70 townhomes on the driving range and an additional 18 townhomes in the former parking lot. The developers have talked about turning the club house into a restaurant that would potentially be open to the public. Anderson Communities has enlisted Jimmy Nash Homes as the builder for this project.

Some Andover residents have raised concerns about the proposed development at Andover Golf Course, stating they were only aware of 36 townhomes instead of the proposed 88. A few other residents also raised concerns about storm water issues that can occur on the course during heavy rainfall.

As of July 9, 2019, a date has not been set for construction on the new development.
