Family members welcome to attend

Baptist Health Medical Group Neurology and Baptist Health HealthwoRx Fitness & Wellness Center will offer Brainworks, a free educational series for those with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia, each Wednesday in October at HealthwoRx in Lexington Green.

Scheduled from 2 to 3:30 p.m., each program in the four-week series is designed to offer attendees information to help them live well and take control of their health. Family members are welcome to attend. Topics and speakers are:

Oct. 5 – “Living Well with a Diagnosis of MCI or Dementia,” Greg Cooper, MD, PhD, neurologist with Baptist Health Medical Group Neurology and the Memory Care Clinic.

Oct.  12 – “Mind over Matter: Strategies for Memory and Thinking,” Jessica Wilmore, MS, CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathology at Baptist Health Lexington

Oct.19 – “Eat, Move, Live: How Food and Movement Protect Memory,” Melanie Johnson, MS, RD, LD, HealthwoRx dietitian, and Grant Gensheimer, MS, CPT, HealthwoRx exercise physiologist

Oct. 26 – “Coping and Adjusting to a Memory Loss Diagnosis,” April Stauffer, MS, Alzheimer’s Association, and Stephanie Freeman, MSSW, Baptist Health Memory Care Clinic
