On the one year anniversary of the death of Dr. Pearse Lyons of Alltech, a remembrance was held at University of Kentucky Hospital. In attendance were members of the UK patient care team, Dr. Lyons' wife and co-founder of Alltech, Deirdre Lyons, current president and CEO of Alltech, Dr. Mark Lyons, Dr. Eli Capilouto, president of the University of Kentucky, and Dr. Phillip Chang, Chief Medical Officer of UK Healthcare. In partnership with UK HealthCare, Alltech has established a new foundation, The Lyons Family Life Foundation dedicated to honor the life and legacy of late Alltech founder Dr. Pearse Lyons. “What we are doing today is establishing a framework that will enable us to advance the ideas that we believe could have the greatest potential impact on others,” said Dr. Mark Lyons. “We can think of no better partner than UK, a place where my father found so many friends who share our values and our vision for impact.” An important component of this initiative will be empowering effective communication between caregivers and patients, new technology, music therapy, and lifelong health.
