Frances Ankeny, General Manager of PetSuites, says they are providing extra training for employees on properly disinfecting the work space environment and how to maximize safety when interacting with customers.

Clients have taken great comfort in their practice of sanitizing surfaces and spaces on the hour, as they have always done with their daycare, grooming, and boarding facilities.

When COVID guidelines were announced for pet daycare and boarding centers, PetSuites added an extra feature, curbside pet pick-up.

Clients pulled up, texted, and their pet was escorted in or out, contact-free.

PetSuites has been boarding one beloved dog since the beginning of the pandemic because the pet parent went to New York to work the frontlines as a healthcare hero.

Mutt Strut
The Lexington Humane Society’s annual Mutt Strut is going virtual for 2020. On Saturday, June 6, take your 4-legged friend for a walk and share on social media using the hashtag #LHSVIRTUALMUTTSTRUT. Participants decide their own route to use.

Lexington Humane Society Update
The Lexington Humane Society main Adoption Center opened their doors last month, but with strict guidelines. Guests and employees are required to:

  • Wear a mask while inside
  • Social Distancing will be enforced in all areas of the center
  • Only a certain number of customers are allowed inside the center. If there is a large crowd, people will be asked to wait in their cars until someone leaves
  • Recreational visits are not permitted at this time, only serious adopters
  • Only one family per household is allowed to complete the initial walk through of the facility
  • Adopters are still being asked to be pre-approved prior to visiting

Their volunteer program is still suspended at this time, but their foster program is ongoing.
