Lexington’s Fraternal Order of Firefighters (FOF) is asking to help make the holidays brighter for hundreds of Lexington kids by donating to the 88th Annual Toy Drive. A variety of toys such as dolls, bikes, balls, action figures, and games will be accepted for boys and girls ages 0-12. All toys should be unwrapped. Donations will be accepted at all Lexington fire stations.

 

EVENTS

Saturday Dec 1

Santa’s Workshop is opening at the Hamburg Pavilion on December 1. Stop by for photos with Santa, or cocoa and stories with Mrs. Claus every weekend in December leading up to Christmas.

 

Ashland, the Henry Clay Estate hosts “A Kentucky Christmas” on Saturday, December 1. Shop at an outdoor Christmas market, take photos with Santa, tree lighting, and take a candlelight tour of the mansion. Festivities begin at 1 pm.

 

Waveland Museum hosts Story Time with Mrs. Santa Claus on the Saturday’s of December 1, 8, & 15 from 10:30 am to 11:30 pm.

 

Joseph-Beth Booksellers hosts The Lexington Ballet Company for story time as they perform The Nutcracker on Saturday, December 1 at 11 am.

 

Lexington Children’s Theatre presents “A Charlie Brown Christmas” at Lexington Opera House on December 1, 2 and 8.

 

Aviation Museum of Kentucky is flying in Santa Clause this year. He will arrive by helicopter on Saturday, December 1 at 1 pm.

 

On Saturday December 1 Storytime at Hamburg Barnes and Noble reads “How to Catch a Snowman” at 11am.

 

Tuesday Dec 4

The Lexington Christmas Parade will march down Main Street from Midland Avenue to Mill Street, starting at 7 pm. The parade will feature festive floats, local organizations, marching bands and Santa Claus.

 

The Kentucky Children’s Hospital is having their annual Acoustic Jam benefit on Tuesday, December 4 at 7:30 pm at the Lexington Opera House.

 

ARTplay Children’s Studio host Cool Creatives (ages 6-10) on Tuesday, December 4 at 4:45 pm.

 

Big Blue Santa is at Fayette Mall on Tuesday, December 4 from 6 to 9 pm. Take your picture with Santa in his Kentucky Blue suit and the Kentucky Wildcat mascots.

 

Wednesday Dec 5

Children’s Storytime at Barnes & Noble is on Wednesday mornings at 10 am.

 

Thursday Dec 6

Joseph-Beth Booksellers hosts a special story time with Mrs. Claus on Thursday, December 6 at 6 pm.

 

Sayre’s Holiday Bazaar is on Thursday, December 6 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. There will be local pop-up shops selling baked goods and artwork.

 

Friday Dec 7

Kids 6 and up are invited to decorate a gingerbread house at La Petite Délicat on December 8 at 10 am and 2 pm.

 

On Friday December 7 Pajama Storytime and Activities at Hamburg Barnes and Noble reads “The Polar Express” at 7 pm.

 

Saturday Dec 8

Lexington Public Library – Eastside Branch hosts a preschool dance party featuring “Glow-in-the-dark” fun on December 8 at 1:30 pm. For ages 3 to 5.

 

The Ashland Estate hosts “Pajamas & Polar Express: Stories in the Cottage” on Saturday, December 8 at 10 am. Kids encouraged to wear PJs.

 

Sunday Dec 9

Hamburg Pavilion is offering Horse and Carriage rides around the pavilion on Sunday, December 9, 16, and 23 from 1 to 4 pm.

 

Monday Dec 10

Maker Monday at Lexington Public Library – Eastside Branch is December 10 at 4 pm. Grades K through 5th are invited to build and create race cars out of pasta. Registration is required.

 

Scholastic Book Fair Holiday Warehouse Sale is December 10 through December 13 at Lexington Convention Center.

 

Saturday Dec 15

Lexington Parks and Recreation hosts a Gingerbread House Party on December 15 at 1 pm. All ages are welcome.

 

Lexington Public Library – Eastside Branch hosts “Play + Create: Gingerbread Village” on December 15 at 1:30 pm. Drop by for hands-on activities, games, and art projects. For grades K-5.

 

Bryan Station High School Band hosts Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 15 at 8 am.

 

Thursday Dec 20

Fayette County Public Schools winter break starts Thursday, December 20 and goes through Thursday, January 3.

 

Monday Dec 31

Lexington Public Library – Eastside Branch hosts “Family Noon Years Eve Party” on December 31 at 11 am. Ring in the new year with fun activities, games, crafts, and a balloon drop countdown to 12 (noon).
