Summer is approaching and that means camps for the kids. Whether your child wants to participate in a sport, academic, or art camp, Lexington has what you need. Here is a sampling of camp options for kids of all ages throughout the Lexington area.

 

ACADEMICS

Awesome Inc. Week of Code camp
June 10 thru July 15
Prepare your child for a 21st century world with a week of coding. Campers create their own video game, app, and website. The campers learn to use technology responsibly while also enjoying unplugged activities and making friends. The camps are designed for children ages 10 to 15 and are held from 1 to 5 pm.

Club SciKidz Summer STEM Day Camps
June and July
These special camps feature science demonstrations, trained and highly qualified instructors, and team and skill-building activities. Camp topics vary and are for kids PreK to 8th grade.

Explorium of Lexington
May 28 thru Aug 9
Weekly camps are split into Pre-K through 1st grade and 2nd through 5th. Each group of campers participate in age appropriate activities relating to the week’s overall theme.

Newton’s Attic
May 28 thru Aug 16
Newton’s Attic is dedicated to providing students with highly unusual educational experiences and providing students with STEM educational resources to parents, students, and teachers at all grade levels.

 

ARTS

Artkids Camps
July 8 thru July 22
The majority of camp activities will be arts and crafts, however campers will also experience theatre, dance, and music. All campers will have a swim break each day of the camp. Camp and pool staff will supervise campers during the swim breaks. Held at the Tates Creek Recreation Center

June thru August
Camps for ages beginning as young as 4 years old all the way to 18. There are four different categories: First Stage Players, Playmakers, Performance Workshop, and Musical Theater Revue.

The Little Gym Summer Camps
June 3 thru July 28
This camp combines fun physical activity, games, and arts and crafts. Perfect for ages 3-10 years old.

Living Arts and Science Center Camps
June thru August
These camps inspire participation in art and science by engaging the community through education, discovery, exploration, and creativity. For ages Pre-K through 12th grade.

 

BIBLE STUDY

Camp Wild Adventure
July 15 thru 19
Ashland Avenue Baptist Church hosts a faith-based camp with songs, skits, games, crafts, and bible studies. There is a Sunday service during the camp. For kids in nursery to elementary.

The Cathedral Domain Summer Camp (Daniel Boone National Forest)
June thru July
These camps are brought to you by the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington and provide programs like Athletics, Hiking, Caving, Arts & Crafts, Drama, and more.

Lexington Christian Academy Summer Camp
June 3 thru August 2
LCA offers day camps or week long camps that are ministry-led. There are exciting new themes each week as your kids explore science, art, music, and more.

 

COOKING

Kitchen at A.S. Eats Summer Camp
June thru August
Cooking camps are Monday thru Friday from 9 am until 12:30 pm for ages 6-12. Campers make lunches for themselves and dinner to take home for the family. Sullivan University

Culinary Camp
June 9-14
During this camp, kids explore the art and science of cooking. Kids get to gain experience working in a kitchen lab with renowned chefs.

Wild Thyme Summer Camps
June 3 thru Aug. 5
During the five-day camp experience, young chefs participate in hands-on classes under the guidance of expert chef instruction.

 

OUTDOORS

Camp Redwood
June 10 thru Aug. 2
These camps are designed for rising Pre-K (age 3 by Aug 1) through sixth- grade students. Camp Redwood offers general camp for children and specialty camps.

Lexington Riding Academy Horse
Camp Camps are Monday through Friday during June & July
Lexington Riding Academy on Tates Creek Road introduce kids to horses and learn about what is involved in caring for them. Camps have riding lessons, crafts, games, and equine trivia. Camps are determined by age of child.

June 17 thru July 15
Life Adventure Center is an education facility specializing in applying evidence-based theories of experimental education, child development, group dynamics to build resilience, and positive communication skills. Daily adventures include a challenge course, equestrian vaulting, archery, canoeing, hiking, over- nights with campfire, and team-building games.

Shaker Village Explorer Summer Camp
June 10-14, June 17-21, June 24-28
This camp allows children ages 6-12 to learn new skills and make friends at a National Historic Landmark.

 

SPORTS

Boys and Girls Soccer Camp
June 10-13
Join the head coaches at Frederick Douglass for a soccer camp for ages 5-13. Kids learn the skills of many positions including goal keeping skills.

Kentucky Strong Athletic Performance Camp
May 18 and 19
Focuses on the fundamentals surrounding power, speed, and agility for any sport. Goal is to increase the athlete’s awareness in these areas/disciplines. Open to boys and girls ages 7-13. At the Joe Craft Center practice gym.

Lexington Christian Academy Youth Soccer Camp
June 3 thru June 6
For ages 4 through 12, your kids are taught soccer skills by the High School Men’s & Women’s Soccer Coaches. The High School teams are also there to help train and be camp counselors.

Lexington Tennis Center Summer Tennis Camps
June 3 thru June 24
Get ready for summer and improve your game at Lexington Tennis Center. The camps include tennis, various sport activities, swimming, and at full-day camps a special “sport of the day.” Activities are designed for kids ages 6-12.

Camps: kids playing soccerLYSA Soccer Camp
June 10-14 from 8 am until 4 pm
This camp provides young players with a wide variety of coaching styles, practices, and influences that will help them develop a well-rounded skill set. Camp is at Masterson Station Park and for ages 3 through 18.

Man O’ War Golf
June to August
These camps are great for beginners and for growing juniors’ who love the game. Kids learn full swing, pitching, chipping, putting, the rules of golf, golf fitness, and etiquette. For ages 6 through 14.

Top Seed Tennis Club junior day camps
June 17 thru July 29
Learn to play like a pro. There are three programs: The Kids Tennis Program for ages 4 to 8, Junior Tennis Program for ages 9 to 11, and Advanced Tennis Program for ages 13 to 18. All classes are taught by certified Tennis Professionals and certified Fitness Instructors.

UK Summer Elite Swim Camps
June thru July
This camp offers programming for kids ages 8-18. Learn the best techniques for all swimming strokes and also hone in that perfect start.

June 17-21, June 24-28, July 22-26, July 29- August 2, and August 5-9
The Spindletop AllSports Camps offer an action-packed adventure in sports. Swimming, tennis, volleyball, frisbee golf, basketball, archery, pickleball, and soccer are some of the sports on the schedule. In the downtime, there are activities such as crafts and swimming offered. The camp is geared for children ages 6-13 looking for experience in a wide variety of sports and activities.

Spindletop Counselor in Training
This is an opportunity for older youth interested in learning leadership and counseling skills. These young adults work alongside older counselors in teaching sports and activity skills each week of camp throughout the summer and perfect for ages 14 and 15.
