Most guests of the championship series followed John Daly, professional golfer known for his carefree style on the green. Others followed last years winner, Troy Merritt and the golfers from Kentucky. Local Chip McDaniel was greeted with a round of applause on day one when he teed off on hole 10.

Day one ended with DJ Trahan and Jim Herman (both Americans) leading the pack with an 11 under par. There was a 4-way tie for third with Roberto Castro (American), Bill Haas (American), J.T Poston (American), and Sebastián Muñoz (Colombia) with a 10 under par. Fan favorite John Daly ended his day tied for 86 with a 1 under par and defending champ, Troy Merritt, was 114 after day one with a 2 over par.

After 2 more days of play, the final and deciding round came. A new champion was crowned and his name is Jim Herman. The Cincinnati native finished the tournament 26 under par with Kelly Kraft right behind him at 25 under par. Last years champion, Troy Merritt, did not make the cut for the final portion of the series. Renowned golfer John Daly did not make the cut as well.

“My future on TOUR was not looking too bright,” Herman said. “There was a lot of self-talk: what’s next for Jim Herman, professional golfer? But now I’m back in the winner’s circle and it’s pretty sweet.”
