Lexington’s Division of Environmental Services is hosting a free Med Toss to dispose of unwanted medicines on Saturday, September 26 from 10 am – 2 pm (rain or shine) at Kentucky American Water at 2300 Richmond Road.

The event will let residents dispose of prescription or over-the-counter medicines in a safe and environmentally friendly way.

The Med Toss will accept both non-controlled and controlled substances, veterinary medicines, liquids, pills, inhalers, vitamins and mercury containing drugs.

Radioactive drugs are not accepted.

Residents should remove or mark out all personal information from containers.

If you are not able to participate in Med Toss, then you can dispose of unwanted medicines at the two MedReturn Drug Collection Units located downtown at the Lexington Division of Police and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Liquid Medications cannot be disposed of in the MedReturn Units, but prescription pills, patches, vitamins and pills for pets are accepted.
